OSS thought the old OctaMED SoundStudio has AHI. It doesn't, but what is true is that TheMaestrix acts like an 16-bit Maestro Pro, based on that driver you mentioned, but runs it through AHI. The new MED SoundStudio that is under work for Amiga by A-EON, is to be PPC native and supporting AHI, and based on the Enhancer components. The thing now is that A-EON is suddenly very silent and Hyperion Entertainment seems to have won the trial case against Cloanto. Only time will tell. Keep up the excellent work.

Any program that uses the original Maestix MaestroPro driver should work. Unfortunately I don't have a list of such programs. IIRC even as far back as 2005 a new OMSS was meant to to be in the works. But nothing happened in the years since. What is this OMSS (or OSS) you speak of with AHI support? I've never seen any MED with AHI support! :-?

Indeed. Well, an PPC native AHI supported OctaMED SoundStudio v2 based on Enhancer components by A-EON is under development since 2020. Not sure when it will be ready, but until then, you need this TheMaestrix for the OctaMED SoundStudio v1.03c that is.

I see. Pity that OSS is not updated itself without patches.

You're welcome. The old OctaMED SoundStudio is the 68k version and was banging the hardware directly. It was developed in a time where AHI was still not present. TheMaestrix allows the user to emulate the 16-bit Maestro Pro native driver in OctaMED SoundStudio v1.03c, but instead redirect the output through AHI. That way, you get to use OctaMED SoundStudio v1.03c and still can emulate Maestro but through AHI. Damien has done a tremendous work on the tool! He's a great man!

Thanks, but OSS could also use AHI. Why is Maestrix needed?

AFAIK, OctaMED SoundStudio is the only program to be able to run Maestrix.

Is OctaMED SoundStudio the only program that can run with Maestrix?

Thanks HKvalhe! Good to know it works well for you. I had another idea for a Paula rebirth so maybe one day. :-)

Updated through its Installer on my OS4 system. Even better now! It's like the rebirth of Paula for OS4! Thanks to my great friend Damien Stewart for his fantastic work! Keep it up.
