@CygnuxED After reading your email, I have been thinking that you could be right. My old SAM460ex has the RadeonHD 7770 called Verge, and Beautify works with that. I'm using the CustomWorkbenchWB2 driver. The fastest and the best driver for AmiCygnix and yes, like you say, under Update 3, things run faster and generally better, because of the improvements with the Update 3. You're right about A.I. Can't trust that blindly. While it's partically might be correct, it doesn't really point to the ACTUAL problem you describe here. So yes, I'm now convinced that the problem is related to the RadeonRX driver that needs to be updated to fully support Update 3. Upcoming Enhancer 2.3 was held back to incorporate full support for Update 3, so hopefully Enhancer 2.3 will fix these problems with more new components and updated libraries. So no worries. I can wait. Thanks again and sorry that I was partly wrong. Ignore my earlier respons. We have identical setups of the X5000/20, except of the graphic board. It's true that not everyone gets to enjoy the RadeonRX driver as well. Hyperion doesn't own the rights for RadeonRX. A-EON and AmigaKit do. That's probably the problem. Keep up the excellent work as always.

Again: On my system (X5000/20, update 3, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 7770) everything works well without crashes and that is a fact. It is just the opposite, the beautify plugin works faster here compared to update 2. The main difference is the gfx card and the card driver. I know, that there are problems with certain AmiCygnix display driver and update 3 like "workbench2" and "picasso96wb2", but most of them are still working. You should not trust a KI for this. A KI - sorry for saying it this way - does know a shit about AmiCygnix and how the applications are implemented. AmiCygnix uses it's own libraries and none from OS4depot. Only a very few libs from the SDK and one you can find in LIBS:. If Kas1e also owns a RX card, what does it help to explain this problem? I will make a plain installation of the packages from here on OS4depot and try it again.

@CygnixED Well, RadeonRX should not be a problem. If you had, you could test. Kas1e has. He can help you. Ask him. Sorry for triple post. Wen too fast.

@CygnicED I don't think you quite understand. A.I gave an exact correct revealation that Update 3 causes some incompatibility issues with older programs that use older libraries and other OS components. Update 3 provided a couple of obvious changes. Updated ExecSG kernel, updated libs like NewLib, but several now use Clib4, updated OS components in general. GIMP and its plugins haven't been updated since 2013. The problem is neither the RadeonRX driver or Update 3, but several AmiCygnix apps and tools not been updated to be fully compatible with the changes made by Update 3. That's the problem and the fact. Ask A.I with your modern browser and you get this fact I'm telling here.

There seems to be some problems with RX gfx cards and update 3. I don't think, that this is the fault of the gfx card driver, but certain programs do have problems with it. As I don't have a RX gfx card, I only can say, that it works with HD cards. So if you have problems, please try an other AmiCygnix display driver.

When I asked A.I in a modern browser about the problem with GIMP Beautify under AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 3, it confirmed just what I suspected. COMPATIBILITY ISSUES with the new libraries and files from Update 3, conflicting with the elder files from elder programs made before the Update 3 appeared. When attempting to run GIMP Beautify, it causes the system to freeze midway through the process, due to the new components of Update 3 conflicting with the old components from these old programs, plugins and tools. This would undoubtly mean that AmiCygnix and its apps and games would all have to be updated to better support the new changes of Update 3. A natural step when new stuff takes over.

@CygnusEd It would be nice to know what recommened environment settings for GIMP to use when running a system like the X5000 with lots of memory. Adding Multicore support when available would greatly help boost the use of GIMP, and even make it use the GPU power of a graphic board instead of the CPU. I still believe it will help udating those AmiCygnix tools and applications like GIMP and its Beautify to better support the new Update 3. Since it seems that Update 3 is using new optimized PPC code of sort for most of the improvements.

@CynusEd I wonder if some changes have to be done to undo maximum memory size, maximum amount of images to load and setting the cache memory in the Environment settings? They're at default. What are the recommend settings for an X5000/20 having 8GB DDR3 memory and a 4GB RadeonRX based Polaris graphic board? I'm running AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 3 with Enhancer 2.2. Beautify plugin worked under Update 2 without any problems. Under Update 3, it causes the system to freeze when trying to run Beautify.

@CygnusED I have 8GB in my X5000/20. I didn't do any changes to GIMP or AmiCygnix. It all worked under Update 2, but Update 3 caused the GIMP Beauty to freeze the system. Is there a workaround on this problem, or could several of the plugins be updated to better handle the Update 3 changes?

Hmm - I've tried it here with the original binaries and it still works for me (Also X5000/20 + update 3). Maybe you have not enough free memory? My system gets instable, when only 300 - 400MB are left.

GIMP Beauty freezes my X5000/20 when trying to run it with AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 3. It attempts to load the Beauty when activating it but underway it freezes the system. Any possibility to fix those plugins to work with AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 3? The Update 3 changed something, despite being a better update.
