A bit offtop, but i just use unarc, which (imho by default on os4, do not remember), extract fine: gz, tar.gz, bz2, zip and all that popular stuff. And in dopus4 can just go inside of gz, archives and do select+copy for extracting.

No, it doesn't. Maybe you confuse with gunzip syntax.
Hint: makelink soft link gunzip file gzip

Strange but directories are extracted (if you do not use -j) with 'wed'
protection bits, so that you can't read them before adding the flag.
