Once you do that, it run well on my X5000.

Unzipping the LHA files under linux (ubuntu) to check the archive was not a good idea.
It cut out the directory for me.
The files are the same. There is a GAME directory in the version on os4depot

I did not know anything about the version to be released on os4depot. I am very sorry for the problems.
The file posted on os4depot does not contain the correct structure. It should have a ‘GAME’ directory.
The structure intact is on github in the relesa snapshots version ‘deathrace_AOS4.lha’.
In the ‘GAME’ directory you place the versions from GOG (for CARMA the DATA directory itself).
You can additionally put them extracted from the GAME.GOG movies but they are very slow to load.
Version has been tested on A1222 (slow) and X5000. It runs stably.
I have posted a video here to show how the game works.
If you have any problems, let us know on github.

PS: Game freezes whole system after quitting the game.
