Not really. You use the same HD_SCSICMD command to send direct commands to the device and even the SCSI and IDE commads themselves are more or less the same.

Interesting tool. I'm learning to make an IDE driver now, and such a thing is certainly useful for this. Your example mentions a device with "ide" in the name. Is there any difference between IDE and SCSI devices in context of using this tool?
