Blobwars: Metal Blob Solid (v0.98.1 update patch) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a patch to update the AmigaOS4 version of Blobwars v0.96 (release 2) to v0.98.1. 1) Requirements To apply this patch, you need 'gpatch' which should be included in this archive. If not, you can get it from Aminet (util/misc/gpatch.lha). And of course you need Blobwars 0.96 release 2. To check what revision you own, do the following: - Open a Shell - Go to the Blobwars directory - Enter 'Blobwars -version' (without quotes ;) ) - Then you shoud read something like: 'Blob Wars, Episode I - Metal Blob Solid (Version 0.96, Release 2)' 2) Installation Just start the supplied install script, select the Blobwars directory and let the installer do his work. The installer will patch the Blobwars executable and also the file gamedata/blobwars.pak to a new version. !!! BOTH PATCHES NEED TO BE SUCCESSFULL !!! For security reasons the installer will calculate checksums for both patched files. If it does NOT complain about any wrong checksums, you're done. 3) Note on older savegames **************************************************** !! SAVEGAMES FROM OLDER VERSIONS ARE INCOMPATIPLE !! **************************************************** Don't use it! Either start with the game from scratch again or stay with your old Blobwars version 0.96.2. 4) Changelog (AOS4 version) 0.98.1 (28.11.2004) FIX: Handling of fullscreen/window toggle. 0.96.2 (06.11.2004) FIX: Jumping from the last menu item to the first item with cursor-down could cause a grim reaper on Pre-Release2. FIX: Particle blitting could crash in fullscreen mode. FIX: Removed debug output. 5) Changelog (official) Version 0.98 * Very minor changes to some levels Version 0.97 * Added Key configuration screen * Added a warning when running the game as root * Added animation graphics for Aqua Blob and Spider Blobs * Stopped doors from closing on Bob (and enemies) * Prevented enemies from spawning within doors * Removed cheat option for "Super Jump" and replaced with "More Blood and Gore" * Added a check to enemies to ensure they are no longer referenced by bullets before deletion * Added keyboard repeat (so up and down hand be held in menus) * Restored gravity to previous limits (- +12 instead of - + 30). This change made some levels impossible since Bob now fell far too quickly. * Removed a potentially fatal blit onto a locked surface (particles.cpp). * Add "Exit" signs for levels in which the player must get to the exit. * Misc gameplay, level and graphical tweaks.
