Puzzler's Companion v1.1 for Amiga OS4 by Paul Townsend AmigaOne Productions puzzler()amigaoneproductions.co.uk Puzzlers Companion is an aid to solving Crosswords, Anagrams and the "Countdown" TV Show Numbers and Letters games. Written with Hollywood Designer on an Amiga Sam 440ep. Tested on OS4.1, but should work on 4.0 but this is untested by me. History Puzzlers Companion was originally written on an Amiga 500 (In AMOS IIRC) , but only had the word games, an Amiga 500 was just not powerfull enough to do the maths required for the numbers game, it would have taken far to long to get your answer. Later, the program was re-written to run on (Warning bad word coming.......) Windows with Visual Basic. And now, we have come back full circle with an Amiga Version again. Puzzlers Companion has always been used as my test program when I am learning to use a new development system, as it uses some pretty neat string handling and mathematics to make it all work. So here we are with my 1st Hollywood Project. Comments for improvements or bug reports welcome ! Thanks for trying out my little program :-) Paul Townsend AmigaOneProductions Changes V1.1 1. Clicking quit closes faster, it used to wait a few seconds before closing (You can still press ESCAPE for a fast exit 2. User input routines re-written, now uses a custom input instead of a requester box 3. Program now runs in a window instead of taking over the whole screen 4. Now uses better fonts instead of the default 5 Various graphical glitches fixed. V1.2 Some more graphical glitches fixed, mainly that on v1.1 that the numbers game did not clear the screen afterwards, so a new calculation would overwrite the last, corrupting the screen. Also the "Use Page Up / Down" message was not always being removed when no longer needed. |
