The programm uses the OS appdir: to run mplayer. So you must run mplayer once before to get it added in the appdir. Then "appdir:mplayer" should start mplayer.

@gtmooya Thanks. Yes there is a problem with the names. It lays in a faulty implentation of image2icon from me. In the moment i have no time to solve this. For the filesize limit i dont no. I have no such videos but you can try an Hollywood Videoplayer like vamp, if it not plays the video too than its maybe a limit of Hollywood.

Thanks for the new version, working well now. Makes nice quality icons and quicker than I expected too, although doesn't seem to wrrite icons to files with closing brackets in their names. Also, is the there a filesize limit? Some big videos (several GBs) don't seem to read at all.

Found a small bug, if you going to select a path and then just close the ASL window without selecting you will get this error: ---------- Table field 1 was not initialized! File: VideoThumb.hws (current line: 303 - In function: printnames) ---------- This error is always reproducible

I actually can't get this to work. It seems to process a directory, then says "No Vids, Please select another dir" and brings up a file requestor. I close this, and it gives the error "Table field 1 was not initialized. File: VideoThumb.hws (current line: 303 in function printnames)"

Nice little utility! One nice addition would be to allow the user to set the frame number. Often times the first few frames of a video are all black or white. It would also be nice to allow the user to set th e default size.
