Ok. Problem solved. I had filenames with spaces so I had to change to "%s" in the tooltype. Thanks.

Very cool program.
Could it be modified a bit so that it could be used through DefIcons with
certain file types even when the file itself does not have an icon saved to it?

I suppose. Check utility/workbench/backdropicons.lha
